Elephant Rave 2 + Thank you Newgrounds <3

Posted by jmtb02 - September 8th, 2023

It's been a minute, hi Newgrounds!

Thank you so much for the warm reception of Elephant Rave 2 (and the Daily Feature and gigantic front page feature!?). This is my first new release on Newgrounds in 10 years, not since Give Up in 2013.

I've been busy for the past decade. I worked with Kongregate on their indie games publishing business. Then I ventured over to Armor Games for publishing and eventually becoming their CEO. I worked with amazing indie devs on games like Swords and Souls: Neverseen, The Last Stand: Aftermath, Bear and Breakfast, In Stars and Time, and Snacko. I presented the Flash Games Postmortem at GDC, I became a dad of two kids. And I took a step back from personal game development through all of this.

That was until The Elephant Collection, which is a PC/Steam compilation of all my classic blue elephant games. I've been working with @the-exp on this project for about a year now (Shift, KOLM, Indestructotank) and its nearing the finish line. During this time I also realized how much I missed making these kinds of games. Elephant Rave 2 was channeling that energy pretty hard. I'm so happy Newgrounds is here to allow me to share this experience again (as it always has!). Its pretty incredible to build a Flash AS2 game in 2023.

Thank you Newgrounds community for continuing to support my work, can't wait to see where the next decade takes us.

Kind of nice to start to see old faces reconverge with all the lessons and milestones they have gained along the way. Feels kind of like a high school reunion of sorts.

Unless you're making another Flash game in the new year, maybe you could come aboard as a Flash Forward 2024 judge? Hope all goes well with The Elephant Collection!

Yeah absolutely that sounds great!

@TomFulp woah its Tom! well I guess someone had to frontpage him

Haven't been in New Grounds in *literal years* and when I randomly crave visiting it after a long saturday of work I'm greeted in the front page by a familiar elephant, one of my favorite flash game series! I'm an agnostic, but I call this divine intervention.

When I saw that elephant, some neurons fired some teenager memories in my head. Happy to see you here again. :) Thanks for the rave!
