You're right, people should take more care when responding to reviews - I think there should be separate buttons for "Was this response to the review helpful/abusive?". It would be nice if there was some kind of tutorial maybe that everyone HAS to watch the first time they try to review or respond, and the tutorial would say things that you should or shouldn't say in a review, along with how to use the abuse buttons properly.
There's definately over-use of the "abusive review" buttons as well - just look at the last page of Waterlollies reviews when you sort them by score. All of them have 10+ abuse points, even though none of them are actually abusive. Maybe the "Yes/No/Abusive" buttons should be restricted to people above a certain level, or something like that.

Nice rant-type-thing, I can never write my thoughts together coherantly.

People who are not ready to have their ideas attacked, attack back with unreasonable, and ambiguous comments in hope to confuse their assailant into shutting up. Since there is no way to continue an argument or debate, they figure "hey, i'll write what I want as a retort, and have the last laugh, because dingus here can't say anything back!"

It's a disgrace, the simple minds of the responses meant to make no sense, to aggravate their opposition is a mindset that is frankly, pointless.

It's almost comical that these people are the ones that are constantly pulled into thinking that an opposing party is amazing (due to policy promises with very shallow evidence and reasoning), just to complain once again when said new party is in power...
I'm actally in the UK, but I think you can think of a party this relates to...

To add to the topic, I'll talk about the Yes, No and Abusive respond buttons to the reviws.

The "yes" and "no" are useless functions, but at least they doesn't ruin anything .

The Abusive button (also known as Boost Average Review Points button) is completely idiotic. I have a habbit of only going though the 0-5 reviews because they are either the most entertaining or usefull. But since the abusive button came to NG, then every review under 8 gest marked as "abusive" and eventually, removed.

And as you nearly says yourself, the un-written rule is: If the review isn't ball-licking, then it's spam.

And the higher score it got, the harder is it to get some criticism though.

You have to keep in mind that these are kids (most between the ages of nine and fourteen).
They have no idea what they're talking about and do not comprehend the government or current events whatsoever. However, they hear their misinformed parents and other kids at school rant about how "we have no freedom" and whatnot, and believe themselves to be incredibly intelligent and 'cool' to "fight the system".
Rebellion and violence are two of the most appealing things to these children, so the whole concept is very "fun", and anyone who agrees with them in "cool" and anyone who does not is a "mindless loser".
Hence the 'yes' and 'no' difference.

The movie only really deserved the 3.80 it passed with. However, thanks to other kids just like this one, it's risen to 4.19.
Read the other reviews. They're all like "YEAH LETS DO IT! IT'S THE ONLY WAY WE CAN END THE OPPRESSION! I WISH OTHER PEOPLE WOULD JOIN US IN A REVOLT JUST LIKE THIS! WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT!"
They have no idea what 'oppression' even means (and most don't even come close to spelling it correctly either).

The main thing that irritates me about this is the blatant and unjustified arrogance of the kid who made it.
What is wrong with that kid?

Anyway, completely agree about your assessment of the review system. I have a lot more that I hate about it, but I really don't feel like ranting at the moment.

Man jmtbo2 fuck him I mean he can't be acting all proud he did kinda steal that cartoon (I've been looking for the original author I remember the original Author released it here a couple of months ago. I think in August or September.
Don't let him get you down he's just acting like that cause he knows he got away with it if anyone finds the original one PM Tom or me so we can bring it up to Him

I actually did notice that too it was in the portal a couple of months ago well if you find it tell me although since 100's of cartoons are submitted daily I doubt we'll find it I'm just gonna try searching words like rebel,we're not gonna,Twisted Sister just stuff like that and see if anything comes up
