King of Buttons 3

"Nice!"

submission: King of Buttons 3

Simplicity is always key to Flash games, and technically, you just did it about 10 times over. Very nice global structure you have the game, with the total gameplay time and everything. I love that it saves my records and every game has a global highscore list. Much improvement over the previous games, keep at it!

Spread the love :). If not for the music, I might have tried to bury this one, since the flashing yen signs made me want to hate life. But otherwise, you guys are two for two in your mastery of the humble art of insanity. Great job once more.

Cheers,

Anyone who even remotely played pitfall should get a chuckle out of this one. Very well done, love your characters and the effort you put into it. The crocodiles were hilarious. Great job keeping up the 8bit spirit!

Definitely had that Jill of the Jungle feel, if anyone even remembers that game. Good game, interesting ideas presented in this platformer.

I have always admired your work. Your tweening and everything about your animation and graphics have always been polished. You deserve a lot of respect for that.

I love the simple ingenuity behind the story. While it doesn't have to do with much, it is nonetheless entertaining and made me laugh. Great job, great short, will appreciate to see more!

"Nice"

submission: NGIntern: Progress

I have been seeing your work and you have been progressing steadily. I appreciate the hard work and seeing your improvement is great. Your code is looking a lot better, and everything is working nicely. While there still seems to be a lack of increasing toughness or change of enemy, it will only come with time. Great job.

Johnny Rocketfingers 2

"Excellent Job, Sparks a Need for Change"

date: May 9, 2006

This game was expertly handled by both the animator and game programmer. Each respectively put in a great effort and it shows in the great cut scenes, awesome interaction, and the playoff between the two. This is a great game, no doubt. The visual style, sound, and mood of the entire animation and game will definitely stand the test of time.

However, the controversy behind the author not listing his programmer sparks an interesting issue among Newgrounds submissions: the weight of the artist and the programmer, and the relative credit they each reserve.

Although I am for the programmer getting a coauthor spot, do not shun or hug me yet. I believe that the author and the programmer both deserve credit in a spot of Newgrounds fame and fortune, just in a different method.

Like the credit given for music in the submission, Newgrounds should adopt a new listing which allows the main submitter to credit other individuals for the role they played in the animation or game. Based on the principle that every contributor should have their slice of the pie, a second author should be added with a programmer notation to note their role in the animation. The same should go for writers, sound designers, and even artists, if they come secondary to other parts of the submission. Anyone who played a crucial role in the development of the submission should have credit.

I know there is a co-author spot, but obviously, Flash is growing to become a massive multi-user collaboration. Many artists are teaming up with programmers, programmers with sound artists, and writers with musicians. It is becoming apparent that Newgrounds is in need of a way of crediting the credible in a better fashion.

So if I could have it my way, everyone will get credited, and everyone will have an icon next to their user name as to the roles they played in the production. It will be a way for programmers to raise themselves above this mess and have a fair equality in the Flash world. It will bring out the strengths of the Newgrounds users, showing who is really writing these scripts or doing voice acting for these characters.

But until then, I credit both of you guys for your hard work. Johnny Rocketfingers 2 is a brilliant game, and I salute everyone who played a role in the development for a job well done. Art was fantastic, programming was excellent… just an overall great game.

Pollution Simulator

"Great!"

date: May 7, 2006

This game has a lot of power to it. Very simple in gameplay, it shows just how hard it is to maintain a well balanced social, ecological, and economical balance. Creative simplicity in gameplay and a well built simulation makes it all the better. Congrats on this awesome game, great job!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :P. Yeah I tend to like simplicity in games so I didn't really want it overly complex or anything so i limited the options and whatnot. But yeah that was the message I was going for. Originally hard was the only difficulty to really show how hard it was... but winning should at least be a possibility so :P... i was forced by some of my friends to add difficulties..
thanks again for the review!

Primordial Soup

"Amazing Game"

submission: Primordial Soup
date: May 2, 2006

Perfect use of the scroll wheel and addicting game play makes this an awesome game! Simple life sorting with the mouse usually never is this much fun, but you really pulled it off. Very unique in gameplay, which is hard to come by in this day and age.

Congrats, well done.

Create your own Madness!

"Nice job!"

date: April 30, 2006

You did a pretty complete job creating a dress up for the madness series. Lots of things to choose from, and the style in which you made it makes it easy for people just to cut and paste from the browser into their own animations, signatures, or whatever. Good job, hope to see more from you in the future. Congrats on your first submission.
