Super Smash Flash

"Great Work"

submission: Super Smash Flash
date: August 22, 2006

I've got to hand it to you, you took on a project that few Flash artists would take on alone, and you did it with style. Amazing job on creating a massively massive game.

But all said and done, I have to say that the project missed its aim in providing a Super Smash Brothers gameplay. The menus were perfect, the characters were perfect (including the inclusion of new characters), but the entire game engine was off.

The controls are what let me down in this game. Problems turning and jumping were the only first distraction that took away from gameplay. The physics were completely slippery, meaning that I glided across the entire screen with my characters. The platforms were iffy in if I was detected on the edge or not. The lag was massive on some levels, which made me question what went wrong.

Your implementation of the stat blocks were phenomenal. I loved the ability to save into cookies, have the overall game stats always visible, and the score talley at the end of each round. That was a nice touch.

But overall, if the game engine was just fixed, this game would be perfect. I applaud your amazing abilities and talents, as you are young and already hitting Daily Awards (incredible, I must say). I just think you jumped the gun with the controls, and should have had some kind of testing group alert you to the control flaws (sometimes it takes an outside perspective). You are a talented developer, so keep at it. You are going to be huge on Newgrounds in the coming years if you decide to stay, so keep at it! I hope to see more from you in the future.

SpaceInvaders 3D!!!

"Nice!"

date: August 18, 2006

Great implementation of depth in this game. The learning curve to play the game is pretty steep, since the depth is not the most intuitive to play with, but it is still worth playing for a few minutes. I loved your preservation of the original Space Invaders graphics.

Hope you continue developing this, I want to see it progress even further :).

The Phobia Collab

"Eliminate your sorrows"

submission: The Phobia Collab
date: August 18, 2006

Sure, your collab wasn't the best collab ever created.

There's going to be people giving you crap for the score you got and the overall quality, but I think instead of getting down about it, you guys will just need to take what you learned from this collab and use it for your future releases.

A lot of you guys were new, and a lot of you are just starting out with flash. Granted the little time I have known some of you guys on the BBS, you guys did a great job on some parts. The use of sound effects was a lot better than a lot of animations floating around the portal, and the humor on some of them were great. The duck was my favorite part, so whoever made that, good job with the humor.

All in all, you guys did okay. And you guys had fun making it, right? :). See you around the BBS.

Pick Up

"Everything that is good about animation!"

submission: Pick Up
date: August 9, 2006

I have been watiting for this project to finish for some time now, I have been so impressed by the artwork and style, so to finally see it grace the portal is fantastic. The humor, the audio, the animation, everything was above par. The characters were developed cleanly and nicely, and the backgrounds were amazing. The music worked perfectly, and geez, everything was just so polished and perfect.

You have an amazing talent, so keep with it! I hope to see more from you in the future... you are definitely becoming one of my favorite artists :).

Bob's Escape

"Interesting Concept"

submission: Bob's Escape
date: August 4, 2006

I really like the gameplay of this submission. Very simple yet very challenging, it really pulls you into trying to beat those levels! Best part is the awesome frame-by-frame animation that went into each of the blocks and enemies, and the guy who runs around. Great game, hope to see more from you in the future!

Author's Response:

Thanks, one day I'll probably get as good as you =P.

Dunno why, but when I started the game, I was feeling my least laziest for a while so I decided to fbf the whole thing (or as much of it as I could).

Thanks for the review (I'm probably gonna join your next FSF).
